Acupuncture Points

The role of this old form of Chinese therapy is mainly to provide relief for all kinds of ailments. This method has been used for thousands of years and is said to be very effective.Here, it is ensured that vital energy in the body flows through pathways called meridians . Acupuncturists can identify specific areas on these meridians, commonly known as acupoints or acupuncture points, which are then stimulated by the insertion of thin needles. This provides relief for all your disorders as the energy travel to the vital points in your body.
Many people who think about starting acupuncture therapy are discouraged because they are afraid of the pain that may come with the procedure. This is not true. Acupuncture is known to be almost painless although you may feel something like electrical pulses through your body every time a needle is entered into these acupuncture points. Bleeding may take place slightly, although not very common. Patients may not feel any differences at once. It may take up to 10 sessions to notice effects, although this may vary from one person to another.
It is important for you to keep in mind that this cannot be implemented by anyone claiming to be an acupuncturist. If you are thinking about acupuncture therapy, you must find a qualified licensed acupuncturist! It could be very dangerous to visit just anybody who claims to be an acupuncturist as the needles used need to be disinfected and sterilized after each session of insertion into acupuncture points, in order to prevent any diseases from occurring.
It is said that the number of acupuncture points in ones body is equivalent to the number of days in a year, which is 365, along 14 meridians. However, this has multiplied over the year with acupuncturists discovering more acupuncture points on meridian lines. Most acupuncturists however stick to the traditional acupuncture points.

A few examples of such acupuncture points include an acupuncture point on the side of wrist, on the heart meridian, which is said to cure heart diseases and mental ailments. Similarly the conception vessel meridian consists of an acupuncture point to cure menstrual and other abdominal ailments.
